Hide-A-Way Lake Set To Get Sewage System

The Pearl River County Utility Authority is in the process of installing a Sewage System for Hide-A-Way Lake, through a grant from the State of Mississippi.  This is a much-needed system due to issues with old septic systems and lots that would not perk for a standard septic system, in the neighborhood.
Benefits of tying in to new system:
• Cost now – it will only cost a current home owner $250 for the Utility Authority connect fee.  Normally this charge is $400.
• Everything else – the main line through the subdivision, the line to the grinder tank, the installation of the grinder tank, the electrical
connection to the home’s breaker box and the capping of the old septic tank is all paid through the grant money received to implement this
project.
• The value of the home could increase with this connection.
Downfalls of not signing up now:
• Cost later – Sign up for home owners ends February 26, 2010.  Should there be any septic problems with a home owners system after this date,
and the Utility Authority indicates that the home owner must now connect to the sewer system; it could cost $6,000 or more.
• If an owner should decide to sell the home, not having the connection to the sewer system may persuade a potential buyer to purchase another home
that does have the connection.
• Affect of future financing for a potential buyer:  The financing method used by a buyer may require the sewer connection.  FHA, VA, and USDA loans
MAY require this connection.  If the owner does not have the connection, it could cancel the contract or cost the owner some profit on the sale,
depending on the negotiation of the contract.
This is a choice for each homeowner, but looking toward the future, and choosing to connect with the public sewer system can only bring benefits
for the future value each home, vacant lot, and the value of the neighborhood in general.
